The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) features the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant to provide monetary help to individuals and households going through hardship.

The grant targets South African citizens, refugees, asylum seekers, and special permit holders between the ages of 18 and sixty.

The SRD grant is there to assist individuals who have insufficient money, don't receive other social grants or unemployment insurance and lack financial support from elsewhere.
